The Novemberrrr Archive.

Nov 27: Hope everyone had a great holiday and weekend. We are busy processing orders today for shipping tomorrow and I'll be on the torch tonight. The new dangle bracelet video has been a real hit. A number of folks who have purchased one have responded that it is very good. Thanks! The video on photography is in still being worked on but I do think I will have some new dangle bracelet kits ready shortly. Unlike the dangle video, the instructions will be in paper/photo format and will be included with all the components to make and complete a particular specific dangle bracelet. I will be offering several different bracelet kits.

Stay tuned for the February 06 issue of Bead & Button coming out shortly...which will profile a picture of one of my dangle necklaces, using the same techniques taught in the video.

Sunday my hubby was telling my parents about this sign that he read at our local Star Bucks Coffee store. My 6 year old Connor was standing there listening. The sign read "Unattended children will be fed expresso and given a free puppy." I thought that was the funniest thing ever. That is enough to make any parent stand up and take charge of their kids. Of course Connor got all excited about the free puppy and how he really wanted a free puppy. But then he said we would have to keep it in a cage because he might try to hurt our cat Tippy. Way too funny!

I know the holiday's are creeping up fast. Anyone in need of some good dip recipes for appetizers? I have the most awesome recipes for a baked spinach dip and an unbelievable out of this world bean dip. Hmmm.... which one should I give first? The spinach dip is more appropriate at this time of year for social gatherings. Although, cheese spreads are a perfect for this season and I have an incredible recipe for that too. You know how you have those tried and true recipes that everyone always loves and you can never go wrong when you make them? There are never enough of those so I think I will share what I have over the next few days. I'll go for the Hot Baked Spinach Dip first. It is pretty simple to make.....

Hot Spinach Dip

Oven Temp: 400 degrees

2T Olive Oil
1 Medium Onion Chopped
2 Small Tomatoes Chopped (I use 2-3 romas)
3T Canned Green Chiles Chopped
10 OZ Frozen Chopped Spinach thawed and drained
2 Cups Monterey Jack Cheese Shredded
8 OZ Cream Cheese
1/2 Cup of Half and Half
1 T Red Wine Vinegar

1 bag of tortilla chips. (the scoops work great for this dip) Sautee onions in olive oil for 4 min. Add tomatoes and green chiles and saute for 2 min more. Set pan aside. In large bowl, put remaining ingredients. (The cream cheese needs to be soft. Add it to the bowl first and put in the microwave for a few seconds if it needs to be softened). These need to be mixed together. I always use a mixer for this step. Then fold in the onions, tomatoes, and green chiles.

Put the dip in a oven proof container and bake in oven for probably 10-15 min. When it starts to bubble, you know it is good and hot. I have one of those silver Wilton Armetale platters that I love. I spread the dip out on the platter and then line the edges of the platter with the tortilla chips and bake them all at the same time. The chips taste so good lightly toasted and warm. I'm tellen ya, this is always a big hit. I often just make it for my hubby and I to snack on while we watch a movie on the weekends at home.

Let me know if you try it and what you think. Stay tuned for more recipes:-)

November 18: In between multiple spilled milks and crawling on top of tables and all other kinds of things you can imagine a 1 1/2 yr old doing, I actually got the new lampwork beads listed in the boutique. Whew! These are so pretty in person. Get them while they are hot. Fresh out of the kiln:-) (Nov 19-Sat. note: The beads are sold. Thanks)

Nov. 15: The new instructional DVD on making dangle styled bracelets is in stock and ready to ship. Orders can be placed here:
I also just added a few new bracelets to the boutique. These are actually the bracelets that I made during filming of the DVD:-)
Cool Stuff

Ah man..... I feel so ripped off. Caiden just woke up early from his nap. I know you other Mom's know what I'm talking about. You feel so cheated when they wake up early. I have so many things I wanted to get done while he was napping and he is awake 1 hour early. Oh well.... such is life:-)

There seems to be so many new things going on here with the beads and jewelry. Thank you to all who have purchased the DVD. I will be glad to get feedback on what people think:-) The next video I want to make is one on photography. Photographing the beads and jewelry can be tricky and hard to get great results. I want to film from start to finish exactly what I do for the photos you see on my web site.

I'm also working on making dangle bracelet kits with all of the supplies included. Those should be ready soon. I have most of the supplies in stock and expect the rest in the next few days. The biggest part is just slowing down enough to write out the instructions. I'm guessing these will be ready to go shortly after Thanksgiving. I'm thinking there will be 4-5 kits to choose from and then more to follow.

So much I want to do and so little time.... Having said that... I think I have the beginnings of a bead set to put on the boutique. I haven't listed any new beads for awhile and I'm way over due. The colors are black, pink, and fuchsia. Yummy! Hopefully it will be ready tomorrow and if not, on Sat. I will let you know here in the news for sure:-)

How's everyone doing! I hope you all had a great weekend. Our's was pretty mellow. On Sat. Randy took the kids to the StL Art Museum so the kids could see the mummies and the Treasures of Ur display. On the productive side...this is really cool... Sunday we shot a new How-To video on making dangle bracelets. The video is being edited and I will soon have copies up in my supply page area. It is about a 50 minute instructional DVD that demonstrates the assembly of the components in my dangle bracelets that are pictured in my galleries. This includes wire wrapping, sizing, crimping, and adding a double strand among other details. A great beginner to intermediate lesson. Also, we have some new items up on the supply page including some really cool 1970's vintage Czech spine beads I turned up... get em before they're gone!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Just wanted to give you some bead updates. I put a new bracelet in the boutique, updated a few pics of bead sets in the bead galleries, AND....... finally got around to listing the set of all my extra orphan beads on Ebay last night. There are 153 of them. Just click on the photo and it will take you to the auction. Lots of fun beads. None of them are broken just extras I didn't use, wrong sizes, and yes, technique imperfect beads or experiments gone bad:-)

Nov. 5: Wow! What a beautiful day today. Perfect Fall weather. We just got back from the park and now I'm waiting for a pizza to be delivered. Life is grand. I have a few bracelets to add to the boutique. One I really like. It is made with various bead shapes and a double strand. I will get it posted here shortly. In the mean time, I will share a picture of some Minnie Mouse beads I made for an order. I first made these about 3 years ago. We are Disney junkies and go every year. I didn't make any of Mickey but he looks the same with out the bow of course. I put these on page 7 of my bead gallery if anyone wants to order them. Guess I better go round up some $ for the pizza guy.

Nov 2: Well, did you guys survive Halloween? It rained all day and all night. The kids were soaked. Their poor feet were all wet and cold but they got lots of candy and had a great time. I on the other hand.... have had way too much of their great candy. I was just thinking today that when they get older, they will be smart and hide the candy in their rooms and keep it away from their parents. In the mean time, I have to gain 10 lbs each year because I can't seem to keep my hands out of their bags!

Good news with Keegan and his Strep Throat. It hasn't come back. I'm so excited about that. On the down side, the boys brought home letters from the school nurse saying that there is a large out break of Strep going around school. Hopefully he won't get it again. Other than that. not much else going on. I need a mini Cassie to help me out. There is so much I want to do and just not enough time. I want to add some updates on my web site and I have an orphan set of my outcast beads to list on Ebay. I have the pics taken, it is just a matter is sitting down and getting everything ready to list. I feel like when Caiden is sleeping that I really need to be making beads so I don't fall any further behind. Some how it all seems to get done but not as quickly as I would like. So... stay tuned... I will let you know when the auction is up and ready to run. I haven't listed an Ebay auction in probably 6 months. I guess it will be fun to have some action:-)
