December 30th: I'm in love! I'm not a very gadget savvy person. (putting it lightly!) but my husband is the king of computers and gadgets. I've never owned an mp3 player that I've called my own. I'm bought hubby a few ipods for gifts, both of the boys have their own mix maxes, but I've never had an mp3 player......until yesterday!!! I used my Christmas money and spent it on a frivolous i-pod touch. Oh yea.... that's what I'm talking about!!!
I spent 2 days investigating what I wanted. I really wanted the iphone but we are on Verizon with a year left on our contract so that just isn't gonna happen. So I settled on the next best thing. I was thinking about getting a nano but I really loved the wifi capability on the touch. I spent all last night playing with it. It is incredible!!! I only have 5 songs on it right now. But I bought some video from itunes and have been surfing the web on it. Now the web surfing is just incredible. You just move your finger along the screen and it will scroll on the page or you can put your fingers in a pinching motion to zoom in or out. I can't believe stuff like this has been invented.
All of our songs are on the main computer and I have no clue how to get them on mine so I can load them up. But I must admit that last night it came in VERY handy. Poor Caiden has had a cold for a few days and I guess last night, it turned into an ear infection. He was MISERABLE. At 1:30 in the morning, he is still up crying. I'm in bed with him and it seems the only way he quiets down is if he is snuggled next to me. I grabbed my hand dandy itouch, turned it on, went to the video link and watched an episode of Desperate Housewives that I had downloaded earlier for $1.99. I was actually enjoying myself (sorry Caiden!). How cool is that? I could have even surfed the web (which I LOVE to do) but watching the show was all the entertainment I needed.
Poor Caiden, he slept until 1:00 pm today! We slept till 10:00 am! It has been a great lazy day!
I have had this idea of doing names on the silver circles for months. I even have a few prototypes done that have been sitting here for about 4 weeks! There are soooo many possibilities, bracelets, necklaces, etc...
Here is a photo... I don't think this is the way to go in the photo though. The circle hangs down lower than the beads but it's a start. I will play around until I get it figured out. The beads are actually for a necklace that I plan to put in the boutique:-) It will look identical to the photo minus the silver name. It's on an 18" silver chain with a lobster claw for $85. Really quite striking. Yep, that's a big hollow bead with the big hole discs. I'm caressing it right now! ha!
December 29th: Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. It was full of Pokemon for the big boys and trains for Caiden!! Needless to say we all had a wonderful Christmas!
I crashed hard this week after this crazy month. It was so busy and I was pretty overwhelmed with trying to get orders completed and everything accomplished. As hard as I tried, I wasn't able to pull off the wonder woman stunt. I came close but didn't quite make it! I'm paying the price now and am just trying to slow down and catch my breath before getting back on the busy track.
To help slow orders down and stop those impulse purchases, I've removed all the shopping carts just off of the lampwork galleries for a few weeks. You can still order beads but you will need to do it the old fashion way of emailing me what you would like. Then I will send you a paypal invoice or set up a private shopping cart on my website for you when the beads are completed. Please be patient though and allow 3 weeks starting from Jan. 3. YES..... the shopping cart still works on all the supplies/kits/DVD's. And YES.... the shopping cart still works on the boutique and jewelry pages.
I'll add the convenient shopping carts back in the lampwork bead pages in 2-4 weeks when I feel like I've been able to catch my breath. There are so many things that I want to play with jewelry and bead wise. Plus I even have a few small lampwork bead sets, and a large orphan modge podge bead group that is ready for a good home and lots of new supply beads that have been sitting here for at least 8 months waiting to get listed on my website. Maybe this will give me the opportunity to get some of that done:-) Yippee!!! So stay tuned for some new things.
Oh yea... maybe I will even have the time to sit down and get those rings posted for ordering! And I need to sit down and write an article for Step By Step Wire Magazine on how to make the Coconut Dreams bracelet on my boutique page which will also have step by step directions on how I make the flat silver rings!! SCORE!
December 24: Merry Christmas to all! The last minute count downs have begun. We did our traditional Christmas Eve church service, then off to Macaroni Grill for dinner, and then over to my parents house for the kids to open a few presents. Then finally at 10:00 rush home to get the kiddos tucked in bed. I'm in a waiting mode for the kiddies to fall asleep so we can bring the presents and dream of sugar plums dancing!
I hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas... speak to you soon! - Cassie
Dec. 21: Wow this was a crazy week. Whew!!! I'm on the home run though. All the time pressure is off now and I can't tell you how good that feels. I really burned myself out this week. Any new lampwork orders placed between now and Jan 2 won't be started until after the 3rd. I'm going to try to catch up on pending orders and then slow down to have fun and play with the kids during their break. I'm so excited to have some down time.
Isn't this the cutest necklace? Made out of just disc beads and some hollow beads. A lot of these discs are beads that can be worn in the new rings I keep promising to be available soon. Now that the pressure is off, I promise to try and get them ready to go soon. I've had a few people email in advance what size they want to make sure they are on the list. Feel free to email me a heads up.
Well I think my Christmas shopping is just about completed. I even have about 80% of the gifts wrapped. Now that is a job but I wanted to get it done before the kids were out of school. We went shopping in the valley tonight and then went over to Dicks Sporting Goods to look for Keegan a basketball.
The boys found the Razor Ripstik skate board thingamajigs and the Razor Fuzion scooter. They had a ball trying them out. So of course they are begging for them. I asked them at Thankgiving if they were interested in them. Keegan was like yea sure! Then he saw the price and said no I don't need it. But after tonight... he was hooked. Ready to give up the Nintendo DS on his Christmas list. Then I have hubby to contend with that is as bad as the boys trying to ride the things in the store!
They only had the demo one of the Fuzion in the store. The manager agreed to take 40%off the price if we bought the store display. Well that is a pretty good deal but how in the world do we get it with all 3 boys with us? So hubby takes off riding the thing in the store. After about 5 min, I realize he is taking a really long time. In the mean time, I've got 3 yr old Caiden riding up and down the isle on his belly on a skateboard having a ball. Then I realize there is a mother with her 3 kids standing by us waiting for something. I kind of say something to the mother and she said the kids were waiting to ride the scooter. Well, after another few moments, it dawns on me that hubby is buying the scooter and putting it in the car while we are in the store. Keegan starts thinking the same exact thing so I have to play down the whole thing and say that he doesn't have any money on him and you know that dad doesn't like to spend money!
So a few minutes later here comes Randy walking back with no scooter. What happened Dad? He came back with this great story how he was riding the scooter in the store and that he got in trouble from the store manager because he almost hit some people and that he was too old to be riding it in the store and he had to give it back to the store manager! That was a pretty good story! He played it up well and had the boys believing them.
Dec. 16: Yep! We got snow! The second wave has just hit. The boys had a ball playing in the snow today and it is a good thing I worked late because I had to take the kiddies sledding. So not on my schedule but you can't tell them no. This was Caiden's first year to really enjoy the snow. Boy did he love sledding. "Go Fast Mommy!" I finally got my Christmas photo taken for my cards. I was beginning to think it wasn't going to happen.
December 15: Yuck! This wasn't a fun week but I'm back in the land of living! Luckily Caiden and Connor didn't come down with the flu also. I'm guessing since they had it a few weeks ago maybe they were lucky! This is even with flu shots! Such is life. So this is my weekend to really honker down and try to get these orders out the door quickly for Christmas.
We are supposed to have snow starting at midnight... hey.... it 12:30 a.m. right now. (told ya I was gonna honker down and work. I'll pay for it tomorrow morning!) I still have to go out and turn off my propane, maybe there will be some flakes! I can't figure out how much St. Louis is supposed to get. The numbers are all over the board. The weather people never know so I don't put much credence in what they say.
I finally made a dangle bracelet out of the Muckle Mud beads. Must say it turned out pretty darn cute! Sorry, it's spoken for as a custom order but I will eventually get it listed in the gallery for custom orders.
It was a fantastic mail day today!!! My lampwork friend Kerry Bogert and I have been planning for weeks to have some fun. She came up with a very clever idea. We decided to make some beads and then send them to each other. Then we will design some jewelry and send the pieces back to each other. Doesn't that sound like so much fun!!!?
Here is a photo of her beads that I got in the mail today. They look fantastic!! I love having two totally different styles to play with. I'm totally loving them and can't wait to create some fun jewelry with these yummy fellas! But alas.... it will be a week or so until I can play. But it gets my creative juices flowing and I'm having fun thinking of fun ideas while I work. I will be sure to post photos of the completed jewelry for show and tell!
The beads I sent her aren't near as exciting. I'm hinting and hoping for one of her Play Ground designs! They are so dog gone cool! Luv em... You'll have to check out her site to see them. kabsconcepts.com
DEc. 10th: I'm doing a disappearing act for a day or two. Keegan came home with the stomach flu yesterday. UGH.... it is wicked contagious. Now I have it and hubby has it! I'm really hoping the other 2 boys don't get it. So if you don't get an email reply right away.... please be patient. I'm here in pain! This is the pits.
We have had ice storms over the past few days. Hubby grabbed this off of our decorative grass in the front yard. It was so pretty that i just had to take a picture! (before I got sick:-)
December 9: I just put these snowmen pendants in the boutique. They are sold as a set. Get them before they melt! They make excellent holiday gifts. Especially for teachers. I won't have time to replicate them so this is the only set of the season. I've reduced their price to make them more tempting!
December 8: Looks like a disappeared for a few days. I'm just a very busy beaver over here trying to do 20,000 things at once!
I went to a cookie exchange party last night. Had to come up with 7 dozen cookies! But boy did I bring home some yummy ones in return! I got home about 11:30 and hubby and I sat down and had a late night cookie snack! I'm all sugared out!
Thanks to all that have taken advantage of the 20% off sale. It has been a big hit. You have until tomorrow night at midnight to get the discount. Read November 30th notes for details.
I just about have the new silver rings ready to go. I feel like I'm so slow on getting everything out. Just too much to do and too many distractions. But I did get photos taken yesterday of some bead options.
I have a small inventory of the ring bases ready to go. So when the sizes are ordered, then I will solder the band in the desired size. The cost will be $65 for the ring without any beads. (For those of you that make your own beads. The hole needs to be with a 3/32" madrel.) Then the beads will cost between $5 -$10 each. These are interchangable so they will be lots of fun! Here are a few pics of options. You will see some of the rings with the long tube where the bead goes. I need to saw that down to the proper length yet. All the details will be given once I get these posted in the boutique.
December 2: I'm sitting in bed updating my website watching Jingle All the Way movie. I totally crack up at this movie. Back when it was released was when Ebay was getting popular and it always seemed that all the good toys were sold out and you would hear on the news about the big fights. Remember people fighting over Tickle Me Elmo?
Every Christmas for the past few years I have been searching for the cheap plastic Christmas pin for kids. For those of you in your 30's - 40's you will probably remember these. It seemed like Walgreens ALWAYS had them. There was a santa and a rudolph plastic pin. I remember that the noses would light up. I have such fond memories of these as a kid. Every year I had to have one. I can't find them anywhere. They were so popular and I'm surprised they still aren't being made. If anyone knows about these and where I can find them.... shoot me an e-mail!!!
My friend Joan has her belt buckles updated on her website. I'm digging the Pink Princess one! www.joanlabue.com
This has not been the best 1/2 week. I've had all 3 of my boys sick! Yep, there was cross contamination. Caiden my 3 year old got Connor's stomach flu and also Keegan's strep throat!!! The two big boys are on the mend. I'm thinking after today Caiden will be doing better. Yesterday was so bad for him. He was miserable. He didn't eat one thing all day. Ha.... he just came in the room telling me his blankie has a boo boo with a teary eyed look. I thought maybe there was a hole in the blankie. There is some sort of red spot that looks like a piece of hard candy or sucker. That's funny!
